Examination Venues

It is crucial that students are familiar with the venues used for examination events. Students should plan ahead before their examination date to make sure they arrive on-time. Students are not permitted to enter the examination venue beyond 30 minutes after the commencement of the exam start time.

Exam venues and seat numbers will appear on students personalised timetables in MyAdelaide. You can check the Exam Timetable Release Dates website to confirm when your timetable and seat number will be available. Please note that these are often released on separate dates.

Semester 1 and Semester 2 exams are primarily held in the Goyder Pavilion at the Adelaide Showgrounds, whilst Summer School, Winter School and Trimester exams are usually held in Bonython Hall. Replacement / Additional Assessment Examinations are held on-campus at a specified location.

Some examinations are held “In-department” at a venue arranged by the School or Faculty Office on-campus.

Primary examinations (Semester 1 and Semester 2) are usually conducted in the Goyder Pavilion, Adelaide Showground on Goodwood Road in Wayville SA 5034.

    • Goyder Pavilion is a large space with carpet flooring.
    • Approximately 1600 students will sit an exam in any one session.
    • It is air-conditioned and heated.
    • Toilets are located at the student toilet block within the venue; however, students are advised they must use toilets outside of the examination venue before they are permitted to enter. Toilets inside the venue may be used by students only after the examination has commenced.
    • Large digital clocks are visible throughout the hall.
    • A PA system will be used for most announcements. However, supervisors and examiners may also directly address individual and groups of students. Due to the size of this examination event and the number of students who may be sitting a single exam, minor disruptions in the form of announcements may occur.
